Herald of the Mists Demo 1.2 Update: New Save System!

Hey everyone,
I’ve received a lot of great suggestions for the game, and many of them were about the save system—something I had been wanting to refine as well.
Previously, the game allowed you to save almost anytime, but I realized this didn’t really serve the core experience I wanted to create. To introduce more layers of risk management, I’ve made some changes.
From now on, there are three ways to save your progress:
- Manual Save: Requires one Ink Bottle. You start with five and can buy more for four coins each.
- Resting: Save by setting up camp or staying at an inn.
- Prayer: Save by praying at an altar of the Ascendent or the Queen. The demo includes only one altar (the Kayrakan statue in Compass), but the full game will feature several across the map. However, if you’ve turned your back on the Sacred Family, don’t expect their blessings.
The game will also autosave at key points.
Other Changes
- Fixed a bug where spells could be cast from dialogue options without being trained in the magic circle.
- Item descriptions are now visible while buying and selling backpack items.
- Overwriting a save now correctly updates the save file name.
- Fixed the camping bug—setting up camp now works as intended.
- Camping now requires a bedroll in your backpack.
- Slightly increased combat difficulty.
